Who runs the works? We do.

On a turnkey project, one atelier works from start to finish: we design the project, choose every piece, supply it, carry it out and run the works through to handover.

At Atelier Renata Santos Machado, managing the works is our job. The client doesn’t coordinate suppliers, solve logistics problems or chase deliveries: there is one point of contact from the first sketch to handover, and nothing moves forward without approval. No purchase is made without an agreed budget.

The works are always supervised in person by our team. The client can be far away, and receives a progress update at every phase. We work in Lisbon, along the Cascais coast, in Bom Sucesso, Comporta, Melides and the Algarve, and the team travels anywhere in Portugal.

What a turnkey project includes

Two ways to reach a home that is ready to live in. In both, we take on the design, the suppliers, the logistics and the installation.

Full renovation

4 to 12 months

The interior design and the construction drawings, with the works: layouts, services, lighting, wall and floor finishes and construction solutions, and then the decoration, piece by piece.

Turnkey decoration

3 to 6 months

From concept to final installation: creative and technical development, the curation and supply of every piece, order and delivery management, production follow-up, logistics and installation.

The work the client never sees

Once the technical design is approved, the overall budget is built, and that means far more than asking for quotes: visits to showrooms and suppliers, seeing materials in person, samples, several quotes for the same item, and comparing quality, lead times and delivery terms. Only then is the supplier chosen.

On the logistics side, we confirm production times, align deliveries, arrange transport and sequence the installations. We also handle what the home itself needs: connecting electricity, water and internet, deliveries, importing materials when needed, and the final check.

Handover doesn’t happen when the works end. It happens when the space is fully finished and ready to be lived in.

How we work

A turnkey project, phase by phase: the Av. 5 de Outubro living room.

Listening first, wherever you are. We get to know you and the space: how you live, your preferences, budget and expectations. On the technical visit we measure the space and record every structural element.

The visit records light points, windows, openings and existing structures, so we work with exact data and avoid surprises.

Creative concept, moodboards and layout studies, then the selection of materials, furniture and lighting and the technical dossier. It closes with a detailed budget and the timeline. Nothing moves forward without your approval.

The technical dossier brings together plans, sections, elevations, bespoke furniture drawings, lighting schemes and electrical points; the budget covers every material and supply.

We make the purchases and orders, monitor production, coordinate deliveries and logistics, and supervise assembly on site.

We take on full management of the execution process.

Final installation, carried out with rigour down to the last detail. After handover we remain available to answer questions and adjust whatever is needed.

Until the client is fully satisfied.

Questions about turnkey projects

What does a turnkey project mean?

That we coordinate every phase, from the concept to the choice of materials, suppliers, works and installation. The client decides and approves, but doesn’t manage the process.

What is the difference between decoration and a turnkey project?

Decoration focuses on the look and the furniture. A turnkey project also includes the works, the renovation and the full management.

Do you coordinate suppliers and the building teams?

Yes. We handle all the communication, coordinate suppliers and teams, and solve problems without involving the client.

Do you supply the furniture and items in the project?

Yes. We supply every item specified in the project through our network of suppliers and partners, and handle purchasing, orders and coordination through to final delivery.

How long does it take?

A full renovation takes 4 to 12 months; turnkey decoration, 3 to 6 months. Each project’s schedule is presented with the budget.

Can the project be done in phases?

Yes. The overall concept is set from the start and the works can be phased, keeping the design coherent and the investment under control.

Can I be abroad during the works?

Yes. The works are supervised in person by our team; the client follows and approves from abroad, with a progress update at every phase.

Do you oversee the installation?

Yes. We carry out the installation and final styling, checking measurements, alignments and finishes until the space is ready to be lived in.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the scope, the size of the home and the choices in each project. You set the overall investment, and we present a detailed fee proposal, with no obligation. For reference figures: what an interior designer in Lisbon costs.
